Seat Belts not working on 88 xjs
My seat belts stop working. They are stuck in the "off" position, both the driver and passenger front. No movement at all when I put the key inand start the car. I don’t hear ittrying to move. Not sure if it correlatesbut there is no longer a buzzer that rings when I put the key in. My tripcomputer is also only working for the time of day, all other features are notworking. Not sure if these tie into 1issue so I thought I would list all that I was working on. Seat belts being the most important! Any and all help is appreciated

Go to the "How To" thread at the top of this section and then to "Downloads" and "Tech guides"
Look at the "1988 XJS Update Guide" (something like that.....I can't remember exactly). It has some good basic info on the seat belt system---fuse locations, wiring diagrams, etc. Not like a service manual but still good enough to cover the basics
These were problematic systems. Many were subject to a big recall.
Some owners became so annoyed at the misbehaving belts that they pulled the fuses or otherwise defeated them
Cheers

those are probably all unrelated and just older electronics failing.
There are some connections under the drivers side panel for the seat belts as well as other various bits like sensors and fuses.
I have one of my connectors disconnected under my steering column or my passengers side runs itself like the door is opening and closing.
My drivers side operates fine, so i have never looked into fixing the system unfortunately.
General diagnosing would be examining how the sensors for the seats work, the doors work, and the drive/park switch.
Maybe since your door buzzer doesn't work, there is something wrong there, because the seat belts do operate when the door open and closes....Idk where they switch would be. I would share it with the light switches for the doors, but that is probably unlikely.
