Folks,

My 'new' 1993 facelift XJS 4.0 has an intermittent problem with the electric seat adjustment. Every now and again, the driver's seat motors it's way back for some reason...

...and now, the seat adjust buttons don't work to bring the seat forwards again...

...and also (!) I found that the seat motor kept trying to engage ("click clunk, click clunk...") all the time, draining the battery.

Apart from that, it's fine!

Any thoughts on what may be amiss?

 

Check the switch pack first but for me, I would take the seat out and check the loom underneath for signs of chaffing on the wires leading to grounds and possible intermittent operations.
