Default Silly question, where is the sunrooof switch on my 89?

I have a 89 XJS and it is equipped with a sunroof but I cannot find the switch, The previous owner has smeared some sealer around the seams and did not use it. I never asked why or where the switch was. I want to remove the sealer and check the drains, as it may just be that simple, however I cannot find a switch. The only thing I can figure is when he swapped the console trim around the shifter where the window switches mount he installed one with no provision for a switch. I am thinking if I were to remove that panel, I may find the switch or harness below. I would rather not disturb it if I don't have to.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Mark.

In my 89 it is next to the interior mirror. But they can also sit between the window swtiches...

Thanks, I popped the window switches out and if you use the same bezel as the convertibles with the 3 openings the switch could easily be mounted there. I found the connector shown in the attached pic. in the console and was wondering if this is the harness and connector?

Sunroof is an ASC unit. Maybe aftermarket, not sure how I would find the correct switch

I don't know what that connector is for. Possibly a phone prewire? The sun roof switch on the later cars is the same as those window switches. Same switch too, just a different graphic on it.

If you have an aftermarket sunroof the switch could be anywhere.

Technically all sunroofs were aftermarket. The factory actually never installed any. The Dealers had the option to fit it. So it basically depends on where the dealer decided to put the switch... I'd see if I could track the wiring to sonewhere... Either relays or a switch/plug.

If you have a switch that doesn't seem to do anything then that might be the one

Dam that may have been true n Germany but not in the US. There was a roof offered by Jaguar USA and they were installed at the tax free port center. While not tech. factory they were also not dealer.
