Spoiler fitted to XJS
Heh guys
Did the XJS come out with like a sports package with added spoiler or similar?(bar obviously the racing type)
Do you think the attached photo (found it in my shopping pursits) had added the spoiler? Its just that it is the first spolier i have noticed so far in my travels.
You guys have any spoliers on yours?

That spoiler looks like a universal bolt on from Ebay, nothing to do with Jag. Look up TWR spoiler for XJS or have a look at 6this one, this is correct type that was offered as a option. Jaguar XJS boot spoiler (black) | eBay

IMO, the latest XJS spoiler on the facelift cars ('94, '95 and '96), really adds beauty and balance to the car's already awesome body lines. It came featured on the V12 of '94 and '95 and/or as an option for the straight six cars. Since there were no V12 cars in '96, I'm assuming that it was also an option for the '96's cars.
I purchased my rear spoiler from eBay right after I purchased the car, quite a while back. The spoiler came from a '95 coupe, featuring the integral LED third light at the trailing edge, which is not always the case, as many have the third light on top of the trunk/boot lid and right behind the spoiler. (i.e. in the way). At $350.00, plus new paint, it was quite a bargain after the local Jag dealer had priced a new one for me at $12,450.00.
I think that, in addition to an attractive wheels upgrade, the rear spoiler is the second best touch when it comes to enhancing the XJS looks. I hardly ever see spoilers for sale anymore, at least not on eBay, then a salvage yard is the other option.
Cheers,

Reinaldo,
Did you mean to say $ 12,450.00 as in twelve thousand four hundred and fifty. If so wow, I had no idea the dealer would try and charge that much for a rear spoiler. That is nuts. I did have a question for those of you that have the last factory spoiler made in the mid 90's. Does the spoiler overlap the rear antenna? I had seen on the earlier version or at least on certain spoilers used the spoiler had to have a hole in it so the antenna could come up through the spoiler. I do not see the hole on the last spoiler that Jaguar made so I am assuming it does not sit over the antenna hole-is that correct? Seems like I had heard that even on the last spoiler from the factory the antenna had to be down to allow the trunk to open.

LOL! It's not that bad!
If you think that's bad, you have to see my current project with a XJS
Chop top, shave, channel, section, French and any other metal customizing I can come up with.

Standard XJSs in the UK were never fitted with spoilers. However, I do think that the very late spoiler that was an option for any UK XJS is an attractive fitment.
As mentioned, the very late spoiler came with an integral brake light which suits the car better (IMO) than the extra lumpy 3rd light that was fitted on the bootlid of US cars.
I bought one of these rare spoiler kits in the UK some years ago for my AJ16 convertible. The kit comes with stronger bootlid struts to compensate for the extra weight. It also comes with a replacement aerial that doesn't have the 10 second delay, so the aerial goes down as soon as you turn off the ignition. That means you can then open the boot without breaking the aerial.
