Default Spoiler only on V12's

Found a nice late XJS 6 coupe and sent the guy a large deposit - was picking it up next week. He e-mails to say he sold it to someone else ...So I'm looking again.

People are annoying.

Anyway -- so the rear spoiler that I see on some of the convertibles w/ the center stop. Looks like they are on the later V12 ... I can't say I like it.

Was it an option? or do they all have it?

I'm still looking for a low mile perfect garage queen convertible .. at the correct price ... but I think I am going to pick up a coupe also. That is why I bought the one above -- they are so cheap currently - some very nice examples are around.

As far as I know, only the V12 cars had the spoiler. Another overlooked thing, is that the later V12 cars all had painted to body color mirrors, where the 6 cylinder cars kept chrome.

Yes. Superchargedtr6 is right. Rear wing plus painted, non chrome trim are v12 only distinctions. It took me a long time to find mine. You can't beat the lines of the coupe. I can stare at the flying buttresses all day.

So did all the late convertible V12's come with the spoiler?

The few I have found all have the spoiler ---

I have a 4.0L I6 Celebration Edition 1996 that it came on as well but it is more rare on I6 cars.

No, not all but most of them seem to. Owners who did not want a spoiler could order one without it but had to wait on it to arrive. I have a 1995 V12 that was ordered like that, it's for sale actually. It's low mileage but it's not a garage queen like your looking for, the paint on the hood is fading and the drivers seat has some cracks (but no tears). Otherwise in great shape though, took it on a 3500 mile round road-trip not all that long ago to see the sights of the north east with my girl and she ran flawlessly.
