Default Steering rack zerk

As I was going through everything front suspension, I noticed this zerk fitting on the steering rack. Wondering if I need to grease it, what type of grease, and how will I know when it's filled?

There is a discussion of the fitting in the Book. Short answer, no, don't grease it. They deleted the fitting on later cars, and some people said that using it blew out seals.

ALL mine had that fitting, either as they came or fitted by me.

It was, yes, deleted, and a plug fitted, as access to that hole is required to centralise the rack for alignment purpose.

YES

Over greasing will gum up the works, blow seals, NAH, very doubtful, unless the "greaser" has pumped a full pale of grease in there, so I suppose that is possible. Common Sense is a dying commodity in MY opinion.

Mine AL,L get 2 squirts in there from one of those Mini Grase Pistol Guns, annually. I use Wheel Bearing grease in all the fittings in all the cars.

There is NO way of telling if its full. It does NOT need to be full, it is simply greasing the Nylon wear pad on the rack piston, so a LITTLE is a LOT for this purpose.
