Default Steering sticking....maybe.

Y'all, steering on my Convertible is a little heavy just at the beginning of a turn, especially if I am applying brakes. You have to "steer" it, nothing major or dangerous, just a little stiff at the beginning of a turn (not so much going around a curve at speed). But, then, I am comparing it to my coupe which steers much easier. I may have just become hyper about it. Is anyone else familiar with this "feel", or do you think possibly the rack might be to blame????

Could be a ball joint starting to seize.

Could be the rack, could be the pump.

First thing is to check what Maxx470 alluded to. You need to make sure there isn't a mechanical issue in the steering or suspension. Jack the car and get both wheels off the ground. Engine off, turn the wheel from lock to lock and feel/listen for any binding or noise.

If that check out, look at fluid level and fluid condition. You might want to try draining as much fluid as you can from the reservoir and adding some Lucas PS conditioner. That is often all that's needed to fix a slight "bind" and relubricate the system.

Had the steering system "flushed" and renewed fluid (should have seen the crud that came out), seems to have resolved the issue. Thanx mate.
