Default Still not starting

Im still working on getting my 85 xjs started and its not proving to be easy. i installed a brand new battery, added 2 gallons of new gas, and turned the key. it sounds like a car that has run out of gas. now with the new battery, it turns over like normal, just wont start. now i dont have anyway of knowing if there was gas in the car when i got it, so i added 2 gallons of new gas just to be sure. if it was out of gas, would it take awhile for the new fuel to work its way up to the front of the car? i do have another fuel pump which was in the trunk, im not sure which one is the newer one of the 2 that i can try. any ideas would be greatly appreciated

thank you

Jeff

i noticed after i try to start the car, the fuel pump is getting very warm.... almost hot. is there a way to check it without taking a fuel injector off the car?

thank you

Default UPDATE

ok i tested the fuel pump and it is working. i also noticed a 25amp fuse under the hood was blown, so i replaced it, put another gallon of gas into the car, and turned the key. good news it that the fuel is making it up to the front and the spark plugs are firing. problem is, is that gas is shooting verically from one of the fuel injectors. i took a pic of the fuel injector that is doing it and the car did stumble a few times like it was trying to start, but most of the gas went onto the motor and then to the ground. is it difficult to replace a broken or cracked fuel injector?

thank you

Default RE: UPDATE

here is the pic of the injector in question. ive been reading and they say its a small rubber hose from the fuel rail to the injector that is a known failure point. is this a standard rubber hose

Default RE: UPDATE

STOP[:-]

if you have a fuel leak do NOT turn the car over untill its fixed, this is the most common cause of engine fires in an XJS !!

the hose is 5/16 Fuel injection high pressure hose, this is a complicated construction reinforced fuel hose,

yours are perished and hard and they ALL need replacing, thats all twelve of them , the fuel rail needs to come off, remove the old fuel hose and install new,

the link below ( to a page on this site ) shows how i rebuilt mine
fuel rail rebuild
