Default Sump plug thread

Can anyone please tell me for definite the thread size and type of the V12 HE sump drain plug ? (eg 7/8 UNC etc etc)

The Dorman website lists the thread as M16 x 1.50.

Thanks, I'll test it tomorrow and see. A bit unusual for Jaguar at that era to be using metric threads on these sort of parts, but you never know.

You've made me curious, because NOBODY who sells the part by the Jaguar part number lists the thread. However, it appears that part was used across the line (E-type, XJ6, 420, XK150, etc. going back to the 50's) so a metric thread seems odd and the Dorman spec may be wrong.

I found this site:

JAGUAR - EZ OIL DRAIN VALVES

And they list the thread:

"Size : BSPP-3/8 (G-3/8)

(EZ-102 will fit popular sizes 5/8"-18 UNF on most Jaguar models.)"

I seem to remember???? it is 1/2" UNF.

Only variations over the years were the ones tapped out due to idiots stripping the threads.

Yes, same plug as the XK 6cyl engine.
