temperature sensor confusion 3.6 1990 xjs
Hi All
the temperature gauge on car is not reading right, even after a long run the gauge has only crept about 1/5 of way up and no where near normal.
On investigation I have seen 2 sender units on top of engineat front. unplugging one (which has a water label on it) makes zero difference to reading (square top with clips)> the other one has a spade connector on it which when you disconnect turns off the reading all together!
so what do i need to so to get this sorted?
Thanks
Max

Hi Max
It's either the sender, the wiring or the gauge. If you disconnect it and the gauge reads nothing at all then it is probably the sender. I seem to have to change the oil pressure sender on my 4.0 litre every year so I am guessing poor repro parts.
I don't think that it is a difficult job and you should be able to get a new sender from David Manners or Norman Motors.
