tired of pushing my jag
Ibought this car with out hearing it run as the owner had passed away, and was told by his dad that the car had run whenhe last drove it.The car was in storage for two years it's a 1985 xjs with 93000 miles on it. It has new brakes ,pads ,rotors and calipers on all four corners, and has fairly new exhaust. This car was imported from germany in 1992, has no cold start injectors, one single fuel pressure regilator,no pick up for the injectors in the distributer, and the ground wire on the emc connecter in in the number 2 position instead of the number 1 position which is normally found on north american models. It has good compression across the board, has good spark, and 38psi of fuel pressure atthe rail. This car won't start because there is no pulse at the injectors. i had a jag mechanic come over to my house and he thinks he has narrowed it down to being my computer.I had a computer out of a 86? vanden plas with the ground on the number 1 position so i changed my plug on the car to acomodate the number one position and tryed it , but of course still no pulse. any help would be greatly apprieciated. Sure would be nice to hear her running before christmas

RE: tired of pushing my jag
good morning ken. since i have already tried pluging in another computer and still had no pulse at the injectors it would be nice to know if the original computer is any good . if you know where i could send it to be checked out , or if you have one I could purchase let me know. also since mine has the ground on the number 2 pin , can i change my harness and put the ground on the number 1 pin and just leave it there? Also since this car has no pick up in the distributor where is it getting it's signal for the pulse?thanks again bryan

RE: tired of pushing my jag
Hi Ken the computer that I bought has a sticker on it which reads,DAC4584 and also has a lucas sticker which reads 16cu.control unit 84526D. Now the computer which was in the car has a lucas sticker which reads LRZ 124 and on the other side there is a sticker which reads, jaguar cars inc., with a part number DAC004118/RB .Now it's anybody's guess if that was the original computer or not. Only 7 days left till christmas , gotta hear this puppy run.thanks again Bryan

RE: tired of pushing my jag
Hi Ken hope you had a good christmas. I have found out a few more things to throw into hat.First when I turn on the key the fuel pump comes on and shuts off at about 38 psi. While the key is still in the on position if I turn the throttle pedestal I can hear the injectors click. So if I turn the throttle 4 or 5 times I notice the pressure dropping with each turn of the pedestal, and if I crank engine over at this time it actually fires for a few seconds until the fuel is burnt that was squirted in to cylinder;s. I have noticed that the pump comes on when the key is turned to on position until 38psi is reached, but if I bleed off pressure and then crank engine the pump does not come back on to keep pressure where it should be.I am starting to think that my pump not coming on and no pulse are related as the starter relay, main relay, pump relay and inhibit relay all seem to be linked to each other? Wife would'nt let me in the garage over christmas. Still excited this is the first time that it has fired at all.Have a great New Year. Bryan
