Give me another day and I'll check mine.

I'm almost sure there was a jumper in there to set the unit.

I'm unsure if the 92 has the early or late style computer (I'll guess early) here's a primer on the early style, hope it helps.

A jumper would make sense but might be too easy I looked on the wiring diagram and no mention of one there. Also, I noticed that trip computers for the US had a different part number. Wondering if they have a different PROM?

Went through the trip computer.

I found no obvious jumper points. Sorry.

I installed a trip computer in my 95, it came from a 93 or 94. the bottom left button changes the mpg to lpk and back. you can display either without any wiring changes.

yup that it does Ron. But what we're talking about, in case you didn't know it, is that the US gallon is smaller than the UK gallon....why ??? who knows but it is. So for those who import a US car to the UK get false mpg readings.
Stupid l know, but although the pumps here only deliver in litres so one would think that they would use 100km per litre...But NO, we convert it back to mpg somehow. Trip computers most prob. lol.

UK gallon about 4.55 l
US gallon about 3.78 l quite a difference over a long trip.
