former owner took out both trunck lites .wonder why he didnt just take out bulbs? because lites stay on when trunck is closed . where is switch???? and no I didnt stick my wife in trunk to find out. How do u know true love? put ur dog and wife in trunk and come back an hour later and see which one is glad to see you. Would b nice to occasionally have a trunc lite thanks

 

on my xjs its left of the left hand boot hinge

 

My car also has a switch on the bonnet, this switch also activates the boot lights - yes I found this one out the hard way when I left the bonnet open and came back to a dead battery.

You can see the switch on the left just above the fuel tank, there is also a striker on the boot lid - the black thing just to the left of the hinge

that's weird, there has never been a light under my hood, must be an export thing

 

There is no light in the engine bay but the switch activates the boot lights I suspect its is part of the vehicle's original security system

 

is the alarm an aftermarket or standard fitting? most of my car is 1984 so they weren't fitted ex factory. I think?

 

I don't know as it's not there any more only the switch.

 

found my switch ,,,,its a small switch above trunk latch .. catch swings up when shut . note: trunk may appear shut but if latch is not fully engaged lite will still b on . easy to run down battery this way wilst sitting in garage. thanks for all the help
