Tune Up Order Of Operations
There are lots of little things I want to deal with on my '87 V12, but I'm not sure what order to tackle them in. I can see how some effect others, so I want to do them in the order that will cause the least extra work.
Things like setting the TPS, Idle speed, timing, throttle valve gap, Greg's kickdown switch relocation project. I also want to replace the two coils with one more modern one. There's a diode in the ignition amp that should be removed, maybe I want to put the amp out front in the cool air. The plugs, wires, and distributor rotor were new 2 years ago, but only have about 500 miles on them. My goal this year is to add a 0 to the end of that figure, but I need to finish this tuneup first.
What order should I do things in and is there anything I missed?

IMO....
Kickdown switch, clean throttle bores and set throttle gap, adjust/synchronize linkages, set idle speed, adjust TPS, recheck linkages.
Coils can be done any time. Amp location change together with coil change might save some time
I think it's capacitor you want to remove from the amp. Not diode.
Make sure distributor vacuum advance and mechanical advance are working
You didn't mention the distributor cap. I'd replace it on GP. Make sure the vent system is intact.
Let's hear what others have to say
Cheers
