Default Turn Signal on and Push Brake Fuse #5 Blows

I replaced the turn signal arm with cruise control set switch when I step on brake fuse 5 blows. I disconnected the two contact switches on the brake pedal and the fuse still blows. I can't drive the car with no brake lights or turn signals. The emergency flashers work.

fuse #5 supplies the hazard warning unit & brake light switch , hazard warning has 2 power supplies fuse 5 & 12, brake light system has a relay which is part of the brake fail unit - power supply to brake light relay is green/purple from brake light switch and green from fuse 5, if the fuse still blows with brake light switch disconnected then it's back in the system from the bulb fail - cruise ecu or hazard, try eliminate the cruise control section from the stem,

Thank you for the Ideas. I am still working on tracking down the short or failure. I disconnected the cruise control and the fuse still bowes. The flashers work fine so I am going to remove the turn signal wire from fuse 5 at the hazard switch and tap fuse #2 from the hazard switch to use the turn signals while I am tracking down the Issue.

I finally got some time to work on the coar. Went through all of your ideas and still blowing fuse. I just started tracing cir. #5 from point to point and of course the problem was at the end of the line. The short was in the high brake light bar. Where the cir terminates on the light bar there two spade termination for the - and two for the + real close to each other and the terminations are bare and some how got bent and the - and = were shorting together. Problem fixed. Next issue I don't think the alternator putting out any power and charging the battery.

Got the brake lights working and is no longer blowing fuse 5. Of course I started testing the circuit from the fused end and the fault was at the total opposite end of the circuit. The high mount stop light terminals had gotten bent somehow and shorted the circuit.
