YES Warrjon my standalone ECU SDS(simple digital systems) has a pin with tempeture adjustable digital output, altho its either on or off.

i think it would work,with a relay ,for what i need, just trying to find the right part, seems many options out there!

i could also have a manual over ride switch, for extreme situations.

I just had a look at the SDS fast idle.

It uses a Ford IAC solenoid and a restrictor to control idle speed. As a restictor you could use a pipe with a screw to vary idle speed.

If you want to go simple you could use the thermal unit off a Series III XJ6. Not as tunable as something ECU controlled, but seems to work well enough on the XJ6.
