Default v12 Air con delete.

Hi guys i have a 77 xj-s and i am thinking about removing my ac system. Has anyone done this? any downsides besides the obvious? I had my system de pressurized last summer when i installed a new radiator, the car runs great as is i would just like to get rid of the compressor and associated parts. Will i have any issues seeing as i will lose the fuel cooler? do i have to modify the heater system, besides capping the ac hoses?
I am in the south island of new zealand so it is very very rare that ill need the cooling of the ac, it would be nice to have a heater that works though.

Thanks

Shouldn't make any difference to the heating. Biggest difference is defrost, as the AC runs to dehumidify the air, so it will be more effective and removing mist on the screen with the AC system functional.

If your heater doesn't work now, removing the AC won't bring it to life.

The fuel cooler loss shouldn't be too bad, considering Jaguar themselves junked it with the facelifts.
Where are you? Otago gets pretty damned toasty in summer, at least.

I removed the stock AC system about 5 years ago. I replaced it with an aftermarket, but I junked the fuel cooler assembly, I just didn't see where it would have any effect. If it does (did) have an effect I've not noticed it.

Thanks,

Never had AC in any of my old Corvettes. The 68 had 427, headers & side pipes, OMG the heat.
I think if you insulate the medal floor under the rugs you'll be ok. It would have been real nice if Jaguar would have a cabled vent to bring in outside air, but they don't........
The fuel cooler was a waste from day 1. Like trying to cool a 10 room house with a with small window unit in Florida.
