V12 electric fan wiring query.
Evening all, the previous owner of my v12 modified the wiring to/ from the electric fan sensor. Not being very electrically minded, can someone confirm if there are just two wires coming from the terminals. I.e, one per terminal. Or should there be another connection bringing a live to it? Or alternatively where does the live enter the system if that makes sense. Thanks.
Brinny
Do you mean the pump inlet thermostatic water temp switch by the "electric fan sensor"?
If so, there should be just one wire per terminal. Ignition on, one of the two should be live; when the water gets over 85C the switch closes, which earths the circuit (the non-live switch wire goes to an earth under the radtop panel LHS fixing bolt) and thus starts the fan. There is a line fuse in the live feed coming to the switch, located in the bunch of wires by the rad-top panel LHS usually. Note also, although the wiring diagrams do NOT mention it at all, the LHS inner wing fuse box frontmost fuse that fuses the fan also fuses the horn.
Your car may or may not be wired by the factory for the fan to be on, regardless of coolant temperature, when the aircon compressor cuts in.

That switch doesn’t switch on if everything is cooling well. Ignition on. Connect the two switch leads. Fan comes on. If not, then check fuses. If fuses are good (you have 12v at the fan) then the fan is bad.
