vacuum leak, rough idle?
As I recall mine idled at about 15-17" vacuum.
The fuel interface unit translates injector pulse width into some sort of language that the trip computer can use to calculate fuel economy. I don't think it has anything to do with your problem...but then again I don't know exactly how it works, so.....

Just before it died, we could make the engine produce 17 at idle as long as we had a vac pump on the computer at 20-22. So a bad ECU isn't such a bad thought eh?
I don't have a trip computer, so I guess I don't have a fuel interface unit to worry about. Thanks!
