water manifold - what goes here?
In the far right of the photo you'll see a threaded hole in the cooling manifold. For the life of me I can't visualize what goes in it.
The parts catalog says it's EAC2630 (thermal valve), but for the life of me I can't find that in any of the parts I've taken off the car during the rebuild. Obviously I need to put something into it. Thus my questions...
1. Does this particular thermal valve serve a purpose I can't do without? I could do without spending $85 on a used one if it's not necessary.
2. Anyone know the thread size so I can close it?
Thanks!

I can't remember the exact function of that thermal switch.
Go to the "How To" sticky thread at the top of this section. Click "downloads", then "Tech guide" and then select "S58 Engine Performance". I'm pretty sure the function will be explained.
If not, it's good reading on general principles.
Don't thread size, sorry. Almost certainly it's a British pipe thread.
Cheers

Thanks Doug, I did as you suggested. What a great document...except for the fact that it indicated that I do need the thermal switch if I want to purge control to work :-)
If I could get around that little problem I'd probably just make my own blank-off plate, which seems easier than running across something that will fit into those threads.
