Default Waterproof Car Cover for XJS Coupe

Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced car cover that can withstand heavy downpour and will last awhile? Thanks in advance!

I don't know what your interpretation of "reasonable priced" is, but I have an Empire cover on mine when it has to sit out. It works as advertised and seems reasonable sturdy.

Mine wasn't cheap, it is one made to fit the XJS and I bought it at Cover Craft on line. Its something like 5 or 7 layers but I use it in the winter when I store the car up so the garage is open in case i need to work on one of my other cars during the winter

The cheapo $30-60 ones you see at autostores can work. I have had 2-3 fabric ones and one that seemed to have a PVC outer layer.

The PVC one was the most waterproof but the sun ate it up faster. The others are treated with a chemical to be waterproof and generally didn't completely waterproof in a thunderstorm with very heavy rain. The quality seemed to vary, with the chemical wearing down after about 1-2 years.

I can't imagine spending $400 on a cover because the sun is still going to eat it and the chemicals will still wear off (I'm sure they will last longer but still).

Keep in mind covers arent perfect, and you certainly still find wet spots on your car in some conditions where moisture in the air couldn't escape from under your cover. Easily solved with a rag and detailer left in the trunk.
