Default What’s this plug??

Just wondering what this plug (located in the engine bay on the LHS) is? I assume it is the diagnostic plug? The one pictured is from another car I noticed at a display day on the weekend but it has a termination on the end with wires terminating on some of the pins, as can be seen.
Mine on the other hand is just the black round socket with nothing plugged in it.
Is that likely to be an issue, on my Marelli ignition car?

Cheers;

That is almost certainly the diagnostic port.

That is not almost certain, it is certainly a diagnostic plug.
I guess my question more specifically related to why is the one pictured terminated at both ends, as mine is not.
