What happens here is less extreme. If it's warm enough to start the snow melting, it usually stays above freezing even at night--clear skies are a rarity. Today, for example, was 6 degrees in the day, and will have an overnight low of 3 degrees. So the freeze-thaw cycle isn't such an issue--at least not this far south.

There hasn't been any movement in this thread for over a year, so I thought I might rev it up a bit with a photo I took in the weekend, driving through a remote hamlet north of Kyoto....

Hard to see, but there's a lovely old thatched farmhouse behind that cherry tree. And yes, the power lines are also quintessentially Japanese....

Okay, here's two shots. Another thatched building, more a storehouse than a farmhouse, however. Desaturated the image, then boosted the blues of the car.

Finally a few 60+ degree days in a row here in NY, time to give the Jag a good cleaning.

Hi inertian

Nice Car! but how does it work with the Number Plates 'over the pond' can you just make up any name you like, providing someone else didn't beat you to it?

It's a state by state deal, where you pay extra for the vanity plate. Its first come, first served. Most states have the program in one form or another. Plates are usually renewed every year, and if you decide you don't want the plate anymore, you can get a standard one. What you put on the plate is up to your imagination, as long as it's not obscene, and it fits into the maximum number of characters that state allows.

In California you can choose anything that fits, but you have to tell them what it means of they won't give it to you.
Probably cuts down on secret coded messages.

Last week, I took the Converible out to a small airfield and happened to see the 2-seater Spitfire land. Hairs on the back of the neck, as always, at the sight and sound!

Let me guess: it connects Old Zeeland to New Zeeland? Now that would be a long bridge....

Okay, not technically MY picture, nor was it taken today (unless you count the screenshot) but it is my car, now world-famous....
Saw the Google Street View car go past a few months ago on my commute to the university, and it actually got me.... Well, my hands at least. And my car, which is the more important thing.

Did some cosmetic work preparing for a local car show at month's end, new bumper and repair of passenger side fender. Next up is interior refresh, installing foglamps, and some custom wiring.

Out for a Saturday drive on day one of ownership, the Jag not my girl. New to me 1994 XJS 6.0 V12, my lady's stats are just a bit more "racy". Lol. She loves the car just as much as I do. Two perfect relationships.

Keesh,

That old oil looks well past its best, good job!

Do you happen to know how they did the flush? Where in the circuit did they connect the machine?

Tks

Paul

Normally they connect this machine to the thick pipe at the bottom of the crankcase automatic transmission, but they didn't have the right connector. They then connected it to the pipe at the oil cooler.
