wheel pic thread,
Did Jaguar ever use 17" or 18" Lattice wheels on any of their cars?

I have the stock 16" 5 spokes which I think suit the car and still look kind of current. They clean up really nice too

I love those wheels, IMO they are the best looking stock XJS wheels.
I experimented with the 18" wheels but the ride quality suffered with low pro. tyres so I went back to those 16" with fat tyres
this company still do them Jaguar XJS 18" Alloy Wheels, Sort Price Low Page 1

However, I've experienced similar with my sedan, albeit not necessarily caused by wheel size, but rather by going from the standard suspension to a sporty, stiffer suspension. When I sold my '98 XJ8L and upgraded it to a '02 XJR, I could feel how all that awesome XJR superior handling came at the expense of losing the XJ8 ride. This subject has been around from as long as cars have been around; I guess it's just a matter of personal choice.
I have seen several of your posts where you upgraded from the OEM 15" Lattice wheels to 17" Revolver wheels on your XJS. I am trying to do this on my 1990 XJS. I bought 4 nice Revolver wheels and just mounted new 235/50R17 Goodyear Eagle Sport A/S tires on the Revolver wheels. The rear tires appear to be a good fit, but as you pointed out, there is an interference issue with the front wheel hub bearings. Will 1/4" thick spacers solve this problem without creating other rubbing issues up front?
Were you able to use the OEM lug studs and still have enough threads to be safe with the OEM lug nuts? Does the wheel hub bore still center on the hub without having to use hubcentric rings or other means of centering? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

[QUOTE=Keesh;2850759]I have 245/55/16 tires on the original rims of the Celebration, drives perfectly and looks fantastic.

Those do look good - seems like slim pickings here in the US for 245/55/16; there are a few options for 245/50/16, which I suppose would be closer to the 225/60/16 I already have.
Can I ask what brand and model those tires are?

uspurs,
The height (and therefore rolling radius) of a 245/55 is close to the Comfort Suspension 225/60 tyre
A 245/50 would give you a smaller rolling radius than even the 225/55 tyre that was fitted to cars with Sports Suspension.
Also in the UK, finding either 245/55 or 245/50 R16 tyres is really difficult
Cheers
