Default Wheel Upgrade decisions.

Thanks to some of the good old Detroit potholes it just became imperative that I get new wheels asap. I'm looking at some BMW style 19s from the E39 for situational cost effectiveness. I know Style 5s, Style 42s, and Style 32s fit our cars, so I'm assuming style 19s will as well. they have a 74.1mm bore, which fits the XJS, and the bolt pattern can be corrected with wobble nuts, but I'm a tad worried about offset just because I've never had to upgrade wheels like this before, every other car I've owned was pretty straightforward, as far as wheel options go. The Style 19s are 17" x 8" with a 20mm offset. I don't think it'll be a problem, but I wanted to check here before I commit to some wheels.

You might have issues with the rears rubbing the inner guard, ideal rear offset with an 8" rim needs to be 33. Fronts will be fine with 20

Are wobble nuts safe for spirited driving?

UPDATE: Decided to go with the Style 19s. Couldn't be happier. Currently running regular tapered lug nuts (NOT factory Jaguar). The wheels bolted right up with no need for spacers or whatever. Personally I think the result was excellent. Haven't stopped getting compliments since I put 'em on. The style 19 is a rarer wheel, so it's rather unique as well, plus they were a lot lighter than the factory starfish. The wheels raised the car about 5mm, which is no big deal to me and there is only slight tread rub at full turn. The tires I'm running are 235-45-17. The only thing is that the front center caps don't fit over the hub, they're less than a half of an inch off. I picked up some spare bbs caps from some E39 style 5 wheels at a junkyard and I'm gonna experiment with modification options. I will get these caps to fit, and when i do I'll reply with how I did it. I'm also working on some custom Growlers for the center caps, either laser cut vinyl or 3D printed inserts, because the Jaguar Paris BBS center caps are just too hard to find. I'll upload the files here so if anyone else wants to run any kind of BBS wheels on their cat they can use my center caps. In my research it seems that all 17" and smaller E39 wheels will fit the XJS, excluding the M series cars because of their staggered setup, but you could always just run 4 front wheels from the Ms. 18" is probably pushing it, but I have nothing to back that up. My car is currently in the shop being undercoated, and for some reason I haven't managed a single decent pic since I put my wheels on, but here's what I've got to show you folks right now. When I get my car back I'll take some better ones and follow up. The Style 19s give off the appearance of a Deep dish, which I appreciate. Also, if anyone can link me to some wobble nuts int he USA I'd feel a lot more comfortable with a set of 'em.
