Default Where can I get this Fitting for an XJS Vacuum Booster Master Cylinder?

Hi Guys

Where can I get this Fitting for an XJS Vacuum Booster Master Cylinder?

Its the 'Oversized' Brake Pipe Fitting that goes on the end of the Master Cylinder (see photo)

Just wondering if its a 12mm X 3/16 inch as it takes standard Brake Pipe but is bigger than the normal fittings

I've tried our local Car Accessory Shop but no dice except for the Fluffy ones to hang on your rear view Mirror

So if I knew what I was looking for I may be able to find it on ebay

Where can I get the Fitting for the Big hole on the left of the Master Cylinder?

If I knew the size I was looking for, I might be able to get one on ebay

Alex,

Any Brake repair outfit should have them, even some hydraulic suppliers.

People make up custom brake pipes constantly, so there would be syuppliers in your area.

I dont know the thread specs, never needed to know that.

Jaguar went Metric with some brake pipes in the Mid '70's, so depending what that is off of, would be the key.

Hi Grant

Cheers!

Only problem being my Hydraulic Shop is Closed but I've already ordered the 'Tee Piece' that I am going to need, so one out of two will have to do for the moment

Hi Brinny

I need to find an OEM fitting to lock the Brake Pipe into the Master Cylinder, so looks like a trip to the Scrapyard to try and get one off an XJ6

I believe the small thread is M10x1.0 and the large is M12x1.0.

The taper flare at the bottom is what seals the pipe, so you have to match the angle of that flare. There are a variety of standard flares, I'm not sure what this one is.

Hi Jagboi

That sounds about right to me, which is why I need to find the correct fitting with the right flare, although I believe the Brake Pipe is standard 3/16 but the biggest challenge could be rigging up the Brake Light Switch

I also thought that my Insurance Company would Freak at the prospect of Retro Fitting a System that didn't have ABS like the OEM but they were surprisingly very ok about it

Whether or not I actually fit it could well depend on how Robbo gets on with the New Brake Accumulator and if that solves the problem of the Pedal dropping down the way it does

Although I might just put it on for the hell of it, so I can make a Comparison of which system I like best
