Yes, they will fit. You might need different caps on the hubs (not rims!) but should fit. Most XJ rims until 2003 fit.

There is a good chance the centre bore will need machining in order to fit at least as regards front hubs.
This is due to different design of front hub/bearing setup.

I used those X308/XJ8 wheels on my X300/XJR for a number of years. The center bore *is* smaller than typically seen on wheels for the older Jags. I was able to perform a field modification, though, which involved...um.....er..... judicious percussion adjustment of the wheel bearing dust cap. Crude but effective.

I'm nearly positive the X300 series has the same hub size as the older Jags so test fit before buying the X308 wheels, if possible, or be prepared for some alterations.

if it comes down to enlarging the center bore, it's usually no big deal. I had that done to some aftermarket wheels years ago. Easy task for the local machine shop.

Cheers
DD

Hmm, I'be seen people fit Pentas (X308 rim) to the XJ-S with no problems apart from the grease cap needing some slight correction (it sticks out too far). Not heard of center bore issues though!

l don't know that style of wheel in particular Daim, the centre bore reference is more of a general doubt due to the absence on the xj8 front hub of any noticeble protrusion.

Ah, ok. Well, as said, hub is the same. The boot pattern and center bore are the same as the X300 and the same as the XJ40. Which also has the same as the Series I-III and XJ-S/XJS. AS far as I am aware it is only a matter of the grease cap being a problem as the XJ-S one protrudes out a little more (the X308 has a hollow hub). But it still has the standard lip around the edge. See attachment. The picture shows the front right hub of my X308 from 1997/1998.

I think it might be said the the X308 wheels have the same center bore size as earlier wheels at the wheel-to-hub mating surface.... but the configuration of the wheel is such that the hole tapers down and fouls the wheel bearing grease cap/dust cap found on earlier cars.

So, the X308 center hole is both the same size and smaller, depending where you measure

Which brings me back to: you'll want to change the grease caps

As standard, that wheel definitely can't go straight on the front of an XJS. I had exactly the same wheels on my x308 sovereign and tried to temporarily fit them on my 95 xjs to do some tyre changes. I THINK the caliper fouled, although it might have been something else such as the grease cap.

Grease cap. The XJ-S has a smaller brake system. You won't fit 15" over a 305 mm brake setup (as te X308 has in minimum size) but you can fit a 16" over a 280 (??) mm.
