Default Wires and Relays Identification

Hi,

I took my seized up blower motor out and was addressing some PO wiring nonsense under the dash. In doing so, I have come across some wires that I can't figure out where they would have gone. In this picture, there are two purple/black wires with male barrel connectors on them. One has +12V on it. Can anyone ID these two wires for me? For reference, this is LHD and you can see the inertia switch next to the purple wires. Would also like to know about the red one to the right that was wrapped up with a relay.

Hopefully someone has been in there before and remembers this stuff.

Thanks,

Bill.

I think purple/black wires would be related to the horn....

Is your horn working?

Cheers

Hi guys

I have since gotten my hands on the S57 guide and have made progress. The two purple/black wires would have been tied together and connected to one of the spades of the door switch. The original connector used for this is MIA. There is a small black wire that should be on the other spade of the door switch but in my case was just floating around in there. When I touch the three together, presto, interior lights are on.

My left headlights were not working. This turned out to be a bad fuse block. The lights will work if you fiddle around with the fuse mount. I guess I'll just build a new fuse block. Also got my horn working. Good memory Doug, it IS a purple/black wire, but it's at the steering column to a spring loaded connection to the column. There was something going on with the connection between that and the center piece that slides down the column and mates up with it to bring a connection point to just behind the wheel.

Getting there.

Bill.

I agree with Doug looking at the the wiring schematic the Purple/Black wire goes from the horn relay to the horn switch to the car earth/negative, its your horn wire.
