Well, since you have an '88, you have the "HE" engine....introduced mid-1981. So you have an XJS HE....although Jaguar dropped the HE badging a year or two earlier.

You don't have a 'facelift' model as those were introduced 1991-92.

Then there's 6 or 12 cylinder....but that's obvious, as you've stated.

Then there's the fixed-roof coupe, and the cabriolet, and the convertible.

Thanks Doug, having read some posts, I had come to the conclusion that it was a HE.I was recently told however that it would not be and as I cant find anything on the vehicle, I thought it might not be,It’s good to know that it is as I believe they are better on fuel than the pre HE modelthanks
