Default XJ / XJS subframe differences

I thought someone may be interested to see the various differences I've come across in the front subframes used in the XJ/XJS:

This is the spare I picked up, I believe is from a series XJ. One thing I immediately noticed is it 'rings' when struck - it appears to not have been sound deadened/wax injected at all, unlike the one on my XJS:

This is the terminally rusted one from my 1989 V12. Note small triangular reinforcement plates added between spring perch & front mounting arm, additional metal used around the spring perch join (difficult to see in pic due to rust buildup), & additional reinforcement plate + captive nuts under where the engine mounts bolt up:

This is the later design as fitted to the later XJS & Aston Martin DB7 - note additional reinforcement on the vertical area below where the upper wishbone attaches, & also 'drain' holes in the seam weld above top spring perch:

They are all dimensional the same but contrary to what I've read, there are actual material differences. I haven't seen this documented anywhere so thought it interesting. It also feels like some of the sheet steel used on the 1989 frame is slightly thicker than that of the earlier but I haven't confirmed yet.

I may try & weld some of the additional reinforcing bits to my XJ version before getting it shot blasted.

My series II subframe is identical to the series III/XJ-S one in my '89. The 1976 built subframe has thicker material than the XJ-S one...
