Hi guys.
Im new to jags so please excuse me.
When i bought the car the remote didnt open or lock the doors/boot.No battery in it.Open and locks and starts by the key.

New battery in fob and did the sequence.No joy.
Checked connections in the boot on the security and locking unit.No joy.
Keeps blowing a fuse for the electric mirrors/interior lamps under the rear seat.
The boot open button in the car itself dosnt open, just flashes valet mode on the dash

Do you think its the control unit in the boot?

You are NEW to Jaguar, so WELCOME to the real world of motoring.

You have posted in the XJ-S section, DONT PANIC, it is easily done, but your XJ8 is a very different beast entirely.

ONE OF OUR FRIENDLY MODS WILL MOVE THIS TO THE XJ8 SECTION TO MAXIMISE RESPONSES.

I am NOT real up with these XJ8's either, but I remember reading that the syncing of the remote to the car sometimes requires more than one attempt, and the fact it is blowing fuses should be dealt with first I reckon.

The "valet" flash is a concern, and my understanding of "valet" has me thinking it may be blocking the programming.

Having said ALL that, when this gets moved you will get many more responses, trust me.
