There's a rivet on the bottom that rests on the floor, rusts and causes a leak of the tank. A well-known issue. Search in the forum and you'll find pics etc.

Spurs69,

I have the details of all the Celebration Le Mans XJR-Ss, their engine nos, their despatch date and which dealer they went to etc. And if the No.16 plaque is consistent with the build order, I know which car is yours..

I know that you may know this information for your car. If not, drop me a PM with the last 4 digits of the VIN and I'll tell you the info I have.

Cheers

Paul

I have seen the one you mean.
mine was fine and the tank is perfect. I put a piece of tape over the rivet just for a little protection.

update. Tank in fuel in plenty of pressure running through the system. Removed alarm immobiliser turned the key (new battery) and long behold it won’t start. Next is why??? Lol.

Spurs69,

Your car has the Teves ABS system. DO NOT try and push back the pads and pistons on the front calipers to release the brakes unless you attach a pipe to the bleed nipple and loosen the bleed nipple to allow fluid to be pushed out of the pipe. You must not let fluid get pushed back up the brake lines to the ABS valve block.

Good luck

Paul

Are your injectors working? Sitting so long could result in them seizing up. I think they should cycle by rotating the throttle capstan through it's travel with ignition on. Listen for clicks.

hi all hope all is well with you.
well after much deliberation I’ve decided to remove the cats system completely and this is now done and may I say it wasn’t as difficult as first thought. Now my next issue is that I can get the car to fire on brake cleaner but not on fuel.
So the pump primes the system but then cuts out and loses pressure, but I then thought I’ll hard wire a switch in. So this I did and get the pump running continuously while cranking and still no go vroom vroom. Now the question is is it a missing pulse to make the pump run or is it the fact the injectors are seized or missing a pulse??? Time to get a bulb out and try each injector for pulse if this works then i presume missing feed to pump and injector closed. More fun to come

well I’ve just been pulling my hair out all day can’t get me head around this at all. And I’ve just pulled the vac pipe off the fuel pressure regulator and there is fuel coming out. Now that’s a good starting point let’s get the valves replaced and start again lol

Update at last after hours of trying and failing I finally hit the old girl running.
it’s not the best I do think that I’ve killed the new plugs I fitted and I think there is a injector or two not playing ball.
Next step injectors out and clean and another set of plugs.
And a new coolant temp snsr. As I disconnected it and after some tickling she struck up and sounded really good after the best part of twenty years or so of not running.

Way to go it's running. Persistence pays off. Don't worry it only gets better from here. What did you decide was the actual problem?

I believe it’s the coolant temp sensor at fault. Sending wrong signal to ecu so by disconnecting it it went to a fail safe state and the beauty fires and then ran. And and plugs to be changed along with injector clean at next opportunity.
