Hello everyone,
Travelling along a road which is not Freeway material, a noise very similar to plastic rubbing on plastic generates from around the dash, steering column assembly.
If you press the top of the steering wheel it stops; release and off it goes again, turning the wheel sharply in either direction on a straight road also stops the noise.
I have removed the covers on steering assembly (indicator wipers ect), disassembled the adjustable steering column, checked and tightened the column holding brackets, and every fastener I could find all to no avail.
Help would be appreciated, as I'm fed up driving this car with the hearing aids switched off.

My XJ6 did this. It varied with the weather as well. I found parafin wax on the joints of the plastic trim pieces stopped it. There are also lubricants that are appropriate for plastics that you could use.
