XJS 1992 V12 cruise control hack
Excuse me if this hasn’t already been covered. I am relatively new to the Forum. I owned a 1992 XJS convertible for eight years. Great car and surprisingly reliable. When cruise control failed, I looked into the engine compartment. This was more than ten years ago, so I don’t know if I looked at the manual. I found a small circular piece broken on top of the engine that the metal rod of cruise control slid into. With nothing to lose, I took a similar size rubber grommet and attached it with a zip tie to where the broken part was connected. I thought, “This won’t work.” But it did. The hack lasted maybe a year, but it was a two minute cheap fix and worked great until I sold it to a neighbor with instructions on the hack.
