Hi All,

I am new to the forum and this is my first opportunity to post a thread.
I have a 1991 XJS v12 convertible, great car.

Recently I discovered a leak on the RH convertible top actuator, I have looked in both my owners manual and my repair manual and can not determine what type of fluid should be used to service the accumulator.
Please help.

Hello Norm,

A Google search returned "Univis j13 or Aeroshell fluid 4". I am not ascerting this correct. The manual doesn't include info because if it is leaking, they want you to take it to the dealership. Otherwise, it doesn't need servicing.

***Update***
I'm doing some more research and the above fluids are for aircraft applications and may not be correct or are overkill.

I speculate any quality hydrolic fluid would work, but I'll defer to another member who has better information.

I beleive you can replace the seal on the pump/motor if that is where your leak is located.

I bought a gallon of the called out Mil Spec hydraulic fluid but I believe most fellows use transmission fluid.
