Default XJS door seals

A couple of days ago I recieved an email flyer from Welsh Enterprises,
they are offering XJS door seals.

I have been looking for the last couple of years to replace the LH side which has been in vain. It seems that everything that is LH is impossible to find!

Here is the the link to the site page

Welsh Enterprises, Inc - Jaguar XJS Body Fittings Front Doors Parts.

I checked Jaguar Classic Parts and they are still unavailable.

They are $49.95 so I orderd a LH, we will see how well they fit. The last Jaguar (new old stock) one I saw on ebay went for $185.00.

Holy crap what a difference in price! Welsh has some good stuff, but have a really weird and varying catalog for the XJS.

I run a Jaguar parts shop in Japan and I decided to get in the LH/RH seals for both coupe and convertible(1 set each). I will also report what they are like.

Not bad. Sometimes email response is not good, but if you call them it would be no problem. To make a phone call is a bit PIA for a foreigner like me though.

I received the seals today.
The product seal was peeled off, but from the little remained piece it is obviously produced by APA/URO parts.
The materials are different between the ones for coupe and for convertible, the latter is softer and similar to the genuine one.

Received from Welsh both door seals for my 93 XJS coupe. Had the driver door seal installed today. The installer was very impressed with the quality and firm fit of the seal. When I told him how much I had paid, he was very surprised. He liked the thickness and solid fit it made. Took him over 1 hour to install the seal. I highly recommend these seals.

I installed the new seal (maybe made by URO parts)
It is firmer and isn't flexible as the genuine one, so if the position of the window isn't appropreate it will cause water leak. I actually needed to reposition the window position, which was a real PIA.

In addition, due to the firmness of the seal, it makes a small space behind the seal around the gap between the glass and the body.
Please see the pictures attached. It makes wind noise when running at high speed.
I will need to fill the space with something.

So, unless you have any physical problem with the seal, it would be better not to replace it with the aftermarket one.

sometimes it helps to soak them in warm to hot water, that will take the stiffness out for the install

No, the problem isn't when installing, it's after having installed.
I checked the seal again with a closer look and found that the B post part is a bit too long and that pushes the seal bulge downward, which makes the seal nor fit properly.

It IS a good news for us to have aftermarket seals finally, but I wish they could make even a little better ones.
It is not a problem at all to pay $100 if they are exactly the same shape/length as the genuine one. The cheaper isn't always the better...

Almost all the Jaguar parts which URO parts makes are also made by other vendors, so I hope some other vendors will make better ones some day.

I got in both ones for the conv and the coupe. The convertible one is actually softer than the coupe one.

I have exactly the same problem with the ones I had from David Manners in the UK recently. The door was catching on the bulge and has now split the rubber. I am going to call them next week to get them replaced
