Default 1992 XJS with electrical problem

You all gave me great help with the relay problem. Now it gave me another. The radio now works only when the ignition is off. Any ideas?

If the relay is good I would say the relay has NO (normally open) and NC (noramally closed) terminals. You may have wired the radio to the NC terminals applying power when the relay is off, if so move them to the NO terminals.

Not sure of your original question or problem, but reviewing my 95 elect manual, the radio has two inputs; HOT batt (Fuse 4 from LH fuse panel)for keep- alive memory and switched ignition (Fuse 5 LH Fuse panel)for normal operation. From the diagram, you can see one input designated 11(boxed) is the Batt input. Because you say the radio works this way, that signal is live, however that is only for memory when the normal radio is off. The other input is supplied by the switched ignition (diamond 30) and fused form fuse 5 LH panel. Can you probe that wire or probe the fuse output at the fuse panel to see if it's alive with ign on? Perhaps you have the two inputs crossed such that the switched 30 is going to the keep-alive input or your switched ign line has a blown fuse..
See the diagrams below:

Yea. I think I figured it out. The relays I purchased were not the exact same. They are missing the diode. Only one of the old relays was bad and when I switched it the radio worked properly and if I put the “new” relay in the problem is back. Going to try and get the proper relays.
