Default XJS Fog Rear Guard

Can anyone shed light on the fog rear guard circuit in my car. I have a US LHD 87 XJS. I thought they did not have fog lights. I physically have them mounted in the front but thought they were not wired. I thought the US cars had nothing in the back.

When I turn my light switch to the third position, with 1 being parking lights, 2 being headlights, and 3 apparently being fog lights, I blow fuse #6 immediately in the main Fusebox under steering wheel.

Thanks,

Sounds like a short in the wiring.. What makes you think that it has rear fogs, does it have them set into the rear bumper ?

Right, the USA market cars of that vintage didn't have the rear fog lamps. Yours must be added-on...so who knows how the wiring was done.

Or perhaps you have a grey market car? Any sign of that? Do you have pics?

But I agree, it sounds like you have a 'dead short to ground'. I'd begin by inspection of as much as the wiring as you can see.

Cheers
