Default xjs handbrake

I am refitting rearbrake calipers and the hanbrake calipers, should the handbrake calipers self centre or do i have tho adjust them as i am refitting as they came off, it seems when i fit the fork it only allows movement on one side. I am atempting this with the cradle in place......with lots of difficulty.

There's no 'centering' adjustment...or need for one

As for only one side appearing to move.....hmmmm. I've never really noticed. I feel a bit silly here, having dealt with these calipers few times. Seems to me the one side remains stationary. The actuating lever acts on the 'other side' to clamp the brake disc.

Cheers

Difficult, yes. Been there!

Keep at it, you'll eventually prevail

As long as you adjust the pads very close to the discs, all will be well.

Hi Greg
Its to difficult to get the forks back on the handbrake caliper so i have decided to remove the cradle. The radius arm came of quite easy compared to the other side, used acetone mixed with ATF to ease the rust

Hi Greg
I eventually decided to remove the cradle completly from the car and is now back together all is well and worth the effort, fitted new over the axle exhaust pipes and changed the resonators for straight pipes, how much clearance should there be between the exhaust and the brake caliper, i have about 10 mm bothe sides is the normal?

Jeff
10mm is about all you can get at the closest point. No worries.

You have to write to Jaguar France and they will issue one. The exact name is
"Attestation d’indentification pour vehiculesimportes conformes a un type national Français I wrote to:
Jaguar France
Service homologation
34 rue de Croix de Fer
78123 S Germain en Laye
CEDEX
They seem to need the VIN, engine number, UK Registration number, and possibly other setails about when and where purchased originally.

You have to change them. RH dipping one-piece lights are not available, so you need to acquire the four lamp setup. Someone in the USA kindly sold me a set very cheaply, but new complete sets are available from SNGB at about 400 UKP.
I actually know where there is a set of brand new RH dipping one-piece lights, but the guy wants a FORTUNE for them!
If you do get a 4 light set from the USA, change the actual lamp units (which will be hopelessly underpowered sealed beams) for Valeo 5 3/4 inch ones and the best Osram bulbs (forgotten the name). Valeo available from Oscaro.com very cheap.
You need two units for H1 bulbs and 2 for H4s. The outer units take the H4s (dip and main beam) the inner units the H1s (main beam only). Bridge the main beam feed to the outers to also fed the inners. Replace the headlight fuse with a higher rated one, or it will go/get hot/melt. This is because the main beams are now powering four lights, not two.

SNG Barratt - The Ultimate Jaguar Parts Specialist

The headlight fixing rings have 3 slots that will only allow the correct headlight to sit properly, Make sure the H1 rings are in the inner 2 holes. Guess how I know.......
