Default XJS jack point assist

As I was concerned about the narrow point lift points on my XJS, at the advice of a mechanic friend, I created assist blocks with the drilling out of 4 $1.25 hockey pucks. 1 1/8th holes drilled into the centre seemed to work nicely...for those who are able to acquire hockey pucks...I guess in an internet world, that is anyone.

A very good idea, but your photo shows the rubber thing being put onto the radius arm bush. The actual jacking point is just forward of the radius arm. It is quite Ok to use the radius arm, as if the car is on a two post lift, this eases the strain on the rear axle cage rubber mountings.

Default More on lift point

This is my second xjs...and I can't remember ever lifting my previous one. It was twice in a shop during the year I had it - an oil change and a front end alignment (count myself lucky I guess). I believe the jackpoint on the front left ( in photo) has some rust on it..so I suppose the best course of action is to replace the jack point.

I am also using hockey pucks! Bought a pack of 12 for like $8.

The original idea was to make up for the high clearance on my Jeep GC. But I know I use it for XJS as well
