My new XKR
Wanted to post some pictures of my "new" 2007 XKR. The car had 45k the day before yesterday when I bought it, and it is literally in perfect condition. (As in, I have to tell everyone I show it to that it is not a 2012.) Is there anything I should pay particular attention to in order to keep it that way?
Thanks All. I look forward to trying to contribute to the Board.

Nice - and a beatiful setup! Given that you're in Houston, garage/shelter is a good thing. It looks like it already has nicely tinted windows. Keep a good polymer 'wax' coating on it (I use Mothers synthetic polymer), and clean and condition the leather now and then (I use Lexol; absolutely great stuff). Finally, stay aware of and away from curbs so they don't take a bite out of your low profile wheels or nose, and away from close-parking cars for obvious reasons.
You're gonna love this thing..

You bought that one! I was looking at it online. Not so many available; small world but then again this is a Jaguar forum. Please report back in with your impression. Did you buy an extended warranty?
I love Connolly Hide Food; thicker creme than Lexol and used to treat the seats of Parliament.

Pay PARTICULAR attention to your leather dashboard. Leather was never meant to bake in the hot sun all day and the windshield in this car almost acts as a magnifier...
When I bought my 08, the dash leather was so dry and neglected it looked "washed out" and was even beginning to form hairline cracks (very bad). After three good applications of a great conditioner called "Leather Honey", the results were almost startling. The dash is now dark, rich and shiny. It looks almost wet, and the hairline cracks?
GONE!
FYI, Leather Honey goes on thick with the consistance of, well, "honey" and it does take awhile to get the hang of spreading the stuff around. I always leave it on the dash overnight and remove it in the morning...
Highly recommended...

Thank you all for the replies. Looking at the car, the thing that crabs my attention from a maintenance standpoint is, of course, the dash. I agree with Stillwater, the leather dash is beautiful, but I do not know if it was meant to stand up to Houston summers.
As to what product to use in order to protect it. I must admit to some confusion. There seems to be several good (or bad) products out there depending on who you are speaking with. I'm surprised that Jaguar does not seem to supply clear recommendations on this issue. (I do not have my manual yet. Perhaps they do.)
Thanks again.

Mosesbotbol ,
Yep. That was me. . . I'll report my impressions back in a few months. But I can tell you that, so far, I am very pleased with every aspect of the car.
For what its worth, my impression of the market is that good deals are out there, but you have to be patient, and trust yourself to pass on the car that's almost what you are looking for. I shopped for a about a month.
Sincerely,
G.Fowler

Nice! Looks as hot as a brand new XKR, you'll get plenty of attention
What dealership are we talking about? I bought my 2010 XKR from a dealer in Houston and drove it back home to S.F. Long drive. Flashbacks to the endless ribbon of highway 10, nothing but trucks and empty horizons...

Fogger & Skeeter:
It was bought at Momentum for at least three thousand under the local retail Bluebook price. Because of this, there was very little bargaining to be had. But I got them to certify it for free by the time everything was done. And I think only a dealer can certify the cars in order to extend the warranty to 6yr/100k. So, I considered this something of a concession.
Hope this helps with your search.
