Default '07 XK Glove Box Button

Wow, I'm replacing the third one in four years. For no reason the tabs that hold in the housing snap off and the entire assembly launches into the passenger seat. Has anyone had that problem? Would shorting the spring to relieve some tension on the tabs work?
Thanks,
DOC

I've read at least one other thread about this since I joined so it does happen. Not sure what the long term fix is but it sounds like if yours has popped a couple times that the female section may be getting worn where the retaining tabs grip.

....the tabs are breaking off the plastic housing. All three times exactly the same.

Default Just happened to my 07 vert

Yes. Experienced same phenomenon last month. Discovered spring on passenger seat and gaping hole in glove box. The replacement part is not cheap. I ordered mine online and had the dealer install it while having other work done. Labor time 1 hour as apparently glove box has to be removed. What's next?

I think the issue is that the spring tension is to much for the plastic tabs. I have shortened the spring 1/4" and the button works fine. Hopefully no more tab breaks.
