'08 '09 XKR question
I'm Looking to get an '08 or preferably an '09 XKR (if I can stand to wait until July) but I'm wondering do the steering wheel controls illuminate at night? I bought the FX45 first year out and they didn't. Very disappointing when you're spending that kind of money. It's the little details that make it worth while. If I want fast I'll get a vette or even the new IS-F and save 30K. Also anyone know if the '09 will have voice commands like the '09 XF?
Thanks,
Fulmitz

The steering wheel switches do illuminate.
They XF uses much of the architecture of the XK with some improvements, so I would imagine 09 will probably get the voice the same as the XF as well as the ipod connecivity etc. But right now that is speculation.

FJT,
Thanks, this would be the biggest auto purchase I've made by $30K so I really want to make sure it has everything. The most I ever spent on a car was $64,000 for my Lexus SC430 and the handling was very disappointing. Also had problems with door vibrations and the bass from the stereo.

Here in New Orleans we have some pretty bumpy roads but the SC suffered from a stereo problem. The bass was so strong it caused the wood panel on he door to vibrate. They packed the door with foam but I think it was the frequency that did it. I had to turn the bass way down to stop the vibration. No rattles. However, I test drove the XKR and there was a rattle from the passenger side. The salesman said he couldn't hear anything but he was trying to sell a car. It could have been some loose things in the glove box but I was driving on the highway and didn't have time to check it out. Then again I test drove the IS-F the next day and on the same stretch of road hit a seam on the highway and hit my head on the roof liner of the car. Now that is a ROUGH ride!
FAST! 0-60 in 4.4 sec. The sound from the engine is AWESOME and once you hit over 3600 RPM it really growls. Sounds like a 70's muscle car! Very fun but don't know how it will be as an everyday driver.

I was told there are only going to be 5000 IS-F's stateside. My dealership gets about 1 per month and they have a blue one they can't sell and a silver comming in for April with no deposit. They only come one way and price at $61K from my dealership. The XF isn't as fast but has a bigger back seat. Also I can't believe the IS350 has heated/cooled seats but that is not an option in the IS-F. The XF does have it in the S/C version. Seems all the reviews pan the IS-F. Of course most US reviews don't like the XKR that much either but the British reviewers LOVE IT!
