Why is it that some cars I've seen simply have the round Jaguar badge attached to the grill, while others have a chrome extension, running almost the whole width of the grill, with the badge in the middle. Was this an option? Personally, I prefer just the badge.

First year models only(2007).... Dropped after that...
The pic in my sig is the 2008 XK I just purchased and I've seen several images of '08's with the same grill trim. If it was dropped from '07, why does it appear in '08 models, while, at the same time, others appear just with the badge?

They probably broke it in at a certain VIN number in '08. That is just a guess. The real answer is coming from someone else. Proably wanted to use up all the parts they had before going to the 'new' badge, which is inferior to the bar going across with badge in the middle.
The bar going across the front with the badge in the middle is reminiscent of the E Type Jaguar. The Real Looker.

Hailers, I couldn't agree with you more. The E-Type was definitely the "real looker". I would say it was the sexiest car design ever, especially in the rag top version. I had an old friend who had a '70 E-Type with only 13k miles on it. It was beige with tan interior and it was treated like a family member. He passed away last year and his dead beat son sold it faster than an Obama promise. God knows what he sold it for, but suffice it to say, someone got a beauty.

The parts manual shows that bar as being available up until VIN B32752 which is the start of the facelift cars and there are 2009 registered cars on the UK Jaguar site for sale with them on but there are also 2008 cars without.
I quite like the attached picture showing the front of the XK's through the ages.

That is one great pic. Where would I get my hands on that in poster form? I have a wall in my garage that is screaming to display it.

I think it is one of the original press photos for the X150. The version I have is 3508 x 2594 so may print out OK.
