Question 10 % Bioethanol

So soon I will have to use fuel with 10% Bioethanol, or else buy much more expensive fuel.

Will I have troubles, or will my 2007 XK with 4.2 NA engine just keep on working? Or will all plastic fuel pipes and whatever else just dissolve?

Where are troubles possible, what to look out for?

Thanks in advance, Hermann

Your 2007 XK convertible is more than 16 years old and all the rubber parts - including, but not limited to suspension bushings, weatherstripping, and vacuum lines - have been deteriorating due to time. They should be inspected a replaced as needed.

Stuart - I was thinking of getting door seals/trims (supposing the parts are still available) - have you replaced yours? Mine are still good, but as you say our cars are getting up there.

Hermann,

This thread appears to have taken a very strange direction.

To bring it back on topic. You will have no component problems with E10 biofuel in your 2007 XK. The seals and fuel lines are compatible. I ran my 2007 many thousands of miles across Continental Europe exclusively on this fuel without any trouble,

Graham

All of my door and trunk seals are still good. My XKR has always been garaged.
