I just got back from a 10+ hour round trip in my XKR. The only mishap was parking under a tree in the Texas summer and getting tree sap all over my fresh wash job. Guess you know what I'll be doing this morning. It was a complete pleasure to be in the XKR for an extended period of time. Such a comfortable ride. I had a few people ask me what kind of car it was and many more nearly dislocate their necks as I would drive by.

I was a bit apprehensive of making the trip after having to top off my engine coolant earlier this summer. It was over two quarts low and I have never found even the slightest leak. I check the level quite often now. The cashier at the parts department at the dealers seemed to think that this was normal. Anyone else out there experience gradual loss of engine coolant?

 

My definition of 'gradual' would be having to top off after seeing the Low Coolant warning about every 6 months. That was me. First was a small leak in the expansion tank, bottom side. Second time was the water pump failing...and subsequently weeping. I really like the way the system tells you the coolant is low before the temperature starts climbing.
