Went out at lunch, turned on the ACC and paired my phone, hit the start button again and display went off. Closed the door and came out 2 hours later and my battery is dead, I did not hit my lock button, question is why did my car stay active and not go back to sleep?
Firstly, if in fact you have an 01XK8 you are in the wrong forum. You belong in the XK8 Forum. This is the XK (also known as X150) Forum. Sounds like you have a bad battery. I think, if I were you, that would be the first thing I would check out. A moderator should be along in the not to distant future to move your post to the correct Forum.

You missed the bottom part of his signature.
AND, randyb, yes. You left all the modules powered up, which further drained the last bit from the battery.
These things are voltage-critical. Even a slightly low battery can cause a lot of problems, even some you would never think could be related.
Check the battery connections, CHARGE the battery with an actual charger, NOT a maintainer or trickle charger. See if that helps.
You may have deteriorated that battery past its usefulness for an X150, even a 10% drop in efficiency can be bad.
Maybe time for a new battery?
Oh, and CHARGE a new battery! They are never full from the store!

As has been mentioned before... Always start with a brand new ( and recently manufactured date on label) battery and go from there. Most issues are initiated from weak batteries on the Jaguar forum as well as many other newer car manufacturers . Start there and see where it goes. Too many variables to narrow things down. Let us know how you make out.
If you lock the car, the modules turn off sooner. There's a chart somewhere, and Cambo probably has the info memorized.
Paraphrased...... if you're not in your car with the engine running, close it up and lock it.
If you want/need the car powered on but not running, hook up a power supply of some sort, but I don't think the 2-amp tenders would provide enough. While using SDD, I have 40 amps hooked up and it usually provides between 26 & 34 amps while SDD is running.
