Guys,
I am a longtime supporter of the XJS and XK8 pages. I am looking to purchase a '13 XKR with 60,000 miles on it. Car is well maintained and lovely. There is a slight "tapping" from the engine heard above the injector noise. I am not sure what it could be and the seller said they would have it checked out but the nearest Jag repair guys are 2 hours away in Phoenix. Please help a brother out and give me your input as to the cause and fix for the tapping.

Honestly, it could be a lot of things....very difficult to advise in the forum setting.
Wait for the "experts evaluation" , then get yourself a mechanic's stethoscope.
Very handy, for locating engine noises.

 

Hi Larueb, Look out for noise on start up and shut down of engine , stand outside after starting from cold listen for any rattles , clunks at start and shut down . Engine should be like a sewing machine noise , you could do an oil flush and change , try running a couple of bottles of techron through the tank , then do a further oil change , but I see you are looking to buy . I would get a second opinion on the engine why not ask the seller to book it in to a jaguar dealer for an inspection
