Default 13MY XK 150 Glove box latch

Having a difficult time reassembling the glove box latch Can someone take a look at the 2 pictures and tell me if I have something missing or not fitted correctly. Cannot seem to get it configured to work correctly. I think it is something with the the spring in the latch box. Hopefully some one on the list has some experience with the latch.

Haven't seen this before, so just guessing. That free arm of the spring, that goes off to the upper right of the first photo, looks like it should be hooked on something.
May be on that post on the other side of the spring coil (directly across from that free arm)? Kind of rotate that spring arm counter-clockwise to hook on that post?

Looks to me like that free spring end would go below the pin on the black plastic part that looks to rotate on the lowest pin, with all the goop on it.

Thanks guys, rotating that spring counterclockwise onto the black shaft does the job but getting it to stay in position and getting the top cover back on and aligning with those pivot points is a little challenging to say the least. This all got started when the screws that hold these two housings was loosen and everything sort of sprung apart. At first I thought I lost a piece. That spring is really wound tight to make this work. Again thanks, now every one knows what the inside that mechanism is like. replacement one is close to $300, new. WHEW!!!

Google "jaguar XK 150 Glove box latch" and click on images. A number of images show the latch and spring. Also try various searches such as "jaguar glove box spring". Good luck. Wow, $300 for the part.

Mine blew apart too. I was able to get it back together after some patience. Once the spring is in place, all internals are under high tension but you can get it all back together. Here is a photo before placing the cover on.
