Default 1st road trip coming

Well we'll see how the red car works as we are taking our 1st couple of days road trip. We'll be visiting friend who live 230 miles away and it will be mainly interstate highways at normal 70-75mph. Going to play a little golf as my bride visits her friend and then some local sight seeing. Trip should take about 4 hrs one way so it will be interesting to see how the ride and mileage fare out. My bride will take the 1st stint of about 2 hours and I'll be watching the various engine conditions using my torque pro. Enjoy the ride.

You'll love it. Mine is almost frustrating to drive around town since the car so effortlessly gets up to speed. 45mph is more than just a tease. the challenge is always effeciantly packing the trunk on the convertible...

I can see that and I already scaled down my cart bag for a smaller carry bag which takes up most of the boot. I'll be putting the carry on bag in the jump seat (3 days clothes for 2) and a few soft coolers in the boot. I don't want to pull the top cover as we want to have the top down for the 15 miles of back roads prior to our arrival. I plan on running standard tire pressures of 33/36 with the Dunlops. We'll see how the ride is compared to our Lexus that we normally take for this trip. .

Default Just got back

Well we had a great 3 day trip . Total trip was just a little over 500 miles and the car was super. Most of the travel was on interstates which we averaged 75 mph. Car acted without a flaw and during the trip when my bride was driving I would look at the torque pro for the various values and there were no abnormalities. Water temp ran at 199* while the outside temp was 80*. Voltage was steady at 13.3 V . So with about 90% highway miles the fuel mileage was 24.8 on the dash. Ran with the top up until we got onto the back roads. Very enjoyable ride even with the 20" wheels. I also let my buddy down in Pa. take it for a drive and he thought it was great but a little scary. I'll post a picture later of his 99 XK8 alongside my 2012. So all in all it was a great couple of days. The boot was packed with my golf clubs along with a small cooler and some wine and champagne. The jump seat had our carry on along with some snacks. If I were to have purchased the F-Type I would either have to leave the clubs or the wife at home. LOL.

We took a picture of our friends 99 which has 65K miles on it and has been a great car for him. He bought it new and has enjoyed it. He just turned 81 and had just returned from another bike trip to Sturgis for their annual bike week. I gave him the opportunity to drive our car and he couldn't believe the power. He said that this car is scary but also very tame when driving down to the super market. Our visit was great , our golf was great and best of all the ride was great.

Great to see you enjoyed your trip and car looks good, it's nice to go for a long drive and enjoy the car. Myself and my wife are taking part in the Ireland cannonball run in 2 weeks with 160 cars taking part, Ferraris, lambos, aston's all the usual power machines and of course some jag's. Never did something like this before so looking forward to it. Hope the weather is good, it's nice to just get in and cruise around.

Sounds like great fun so enjoy the adventure. Having vacationed a few years back in your country we found it picturesque and very friendly. We enjoyed the B&B's , the golf and most of all the pub's. Enjoy the drive.
